This weekend, 10 of us bought tickets to go to
Budapest for about 30 hours. When we got to and checked into our hotels, we
quickly headed out to grab some food and get the night started. I convinced
everybody to not go to the British pub right across the street, and we ended up
a little place with some outside seating and some pretty cheap food. I ordered
a cheeseburger (I know that this sounds pretty sad, but I hadn’t had one in at
least 35 days so I was dying for a little greasy cheeseburger). Unfortunately
it was unremarkable at best, but the good news was that everything was so cheap
so ordering dessert was an opportunity to make the dinner a little better. And
that did not disappoint, a couple crepes covered with chocolate and powdered
sugar will make anybody happy. Also, it is crazy that you can get a shot of
Jagermeister for $1, everything keeps getting cheaper and cheaper the further
east you go. After dinner we went to go explore the nightlife in Budapest. It
was a nice low key night, but we were all tired after the travelling and all
the food we ate so we needed lots of sleep, even if it did come at 2am. The
next morning, me and AJ headed out to do our own thing while all the girls went
to go get massages and do girly things. We got to see a decent portion of the
city because we followed one of the Hop-On Hop-Off busses by foot and saw most
of the tourist attractions. Unfortunately we only had a few hours to explore
since we had to be at the train station at 3pm to catch our bus back to Vienna.
Overall we thought that under different circumstances we would have liked
Budapest more, but since we were travelling with so many people, we always had
people that didn’t want to do what other people wanted so it was really
impossible to make everybody happy in the short time we were there for.
